National Radiologic Technology Week
November 4, 2016
National Radiologic Technology Week is celebrated annually to recognize the vital work of Radiologic Technicians across the nation. The celebration takes place each year during the week of Nov. 6 thru 12, which celebrates the discovery of the x-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on Nov. 8, 1895.
The week-long celebration and appreciation calls attention to the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in patient care and health care safety. Radiographers make it possible to produce clear and accurate images of the body that allow physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions that otherwise could potentially be unnoticed. Haywood Regional proudly employees over 50 registered technologists all of whom have a college level degree, licensures, on-going training, and expertise.
“I want to recognize and thank each member of the imaging department. It is an honor to be part of this team who works together to provide exceptional care. Their dedication, knowledge, and compassion is seen every day with each patient they care for,” said Ann Ottum, Director of Radiology.
