Haywood Regional Medical Center Announces November and December Sunshine Award Winners
December 6, 2021
Haywood Regional Medical Center’s (HRMC) Sunshine Award is a recognition program for hospital employees who provide non-nursing ancillary care, support services personnel, and volunteers. This award honors the highly valued and appreciated co-workers and volunteers who show exceptional service and compassion every day. We are pleased to announce our November winner, Joey Lowe, Lead Security Officer, and December winner Felicia Royster, Patient Care Partner (PCP).
Joey Lowe is Haywood Regional's Lead Security Officer. His nominator shared that he strikes the perfect balance between "father figure" and "command presence," making everyone feel safer when they're in the building. He works hard to deescalate difficult situations and make patients feel welcome and at ease.
Then, Felicia Royster, PCP, was nominated for her quick work with a patient. A patient was having a medical issue, and Felicia quickly calmed her family member and helped the patient with their needs. She then helped them find their appointment location. Her nominator shared, “Nice to see an employee so willing to go the extra mile!”
Said HRMC Chief Nursing Officer Susan Mahoney, “As we near the end of the year, it’s been such a joy to celebrate our staff through Sunshine Awards this year. We have a strong team at Haywood and we look forward to continuing to provide quality care in 2022.”
Sunshine Award recipients may be nominated by patients, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, or physicians. Sunshine Award winners are selected monthly. Visit MyHaywoodRegional.com/SunshineAward to nominate.
