Haywood Regional Medical Center hosts monthly Cancer Support Group for any community members navigating a cancer journey
January 6, 2025
Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) welcomes the community to its Cancer Support Group, designed to provide compassionate support and resources for individuals facing cancer and their families. The group meets on the last Thursday of each month from 5:00PM - 6:00PM at the Homestead Building, located at 127 Sunset Ridge Road in Clyde.
The Cancer Support Group is open to anyone living with cancer, regardless of type or place of treatment, and their families. This group aims to offer a safe space for participants to connect, share experiences, and receive valuable information to help navigate their cancer journeys. Each meeting will feature a range of topics, with a light snack provided for attendees.
The group is led by HRMC’s highly experienced nurse navigators, Barbara Westlake, RN, MSN, and Kristina Zilakakis, RN. Both Barbara and Kristina specialize in supporting individuals through their cancer diagnoses and treatment plans, offering guidance and emotional support throughout their journey.
“We understand the challenges cancer patients face, both physically and emotionally,” said Barbara Westlake, RN, MSN, HRMC Breast Care Nurse Navigator. “This group allows us to provide personalized care and a sense of community for those who need it most.”
The Cancer Support Group is free to attend.
