Haywood Regional Medical Center Joins Campaign to Register Organ, Eye and Tissue Donors
March 11, 2020
Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has joined other area hospitals, healthcare organizations, and LifeShare Carolinas to create a donation-friendly community through the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign for organ donation. This national initiative sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services challenges healthcare organizations to educate employees, patients, visitors, and the community about the crucial need for organ, eye, and tissue donation and give them opportunities to sign up as donors. More than 492,000 people have added their names to state registries through this campaign.
“We need your involvement and support to reach our goal of registering new organ, eye, and tissue donors in our state registry between now and April 30, 2020. It’s easy to sign up, and the result is potentially life-saving,” said Sherry King, local LifeShare program coordinator.
The first donor drive was held February 13 in honor of National Organ Donor Day that week, and there will be two more chances to stop by and learn more from LifeShare Carolinas:
- March 12 – 10:30 am – 1:30 pm; table near HRMC Café
- April 17 – 9:30 am Flag Raising and Donor Remembrance Ceremony; table in Fitness Center following
HRMC asks the community to help us reach our goals for this critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation. If you cannot visit on the dates above, individuals can add their names to North Carolina’s donor registry online. Someday you may save a life. Visit www.donatelifenc.org/register to find out how.
