Haywood Regional Medical Center to host Nurse Aide I training class in special iteration of program during the month of October
August 9, 2024
Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is excited to announce the launch of its Nurse Aide I (NA I) Training Program, scheduled to begin on October 7, 2024. This accelerated program is designed to provide entry-level Nurse Aide students with the essential skills needed to provide patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
Nurse Aides play a crucial role in ensuring patient comfort and safety by monitoring their condition, taking vital signs, and assisting with daily activities such as personal care and mobility while working collaboratively with a supervising registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
Graduates of the Nurse Aide I course at HRMC will be eligible to work as Nurse Aides at the hospital. To be considered for the program, prospective students must first be employed by the hospital as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA). Those interested in the program are invited to apply to an open PCA position and then subsequently apply for the Nurse Aide I Training Program.
The HRMC NA I Training Program consists of a total of 140 hours, which includes 42 hours of supervised classroom instruction, 62 hours of laboratory simulations, and 36 hours of clinical experiences. These components are meticulously crafted to align with the standards of practice upheld by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) and are completed onsite at HRMC, providing students with an optimal environment for learning and skill development.
Participants in the HRMC NA I Training Program will enjoy several key benefits:
- Learn while employed: gain practical experience while working.
- Supportive leadership and culture: benefit from a nurturing and supportive work environment.
- High-quality learning environment: contribute to and learn from a facility known for excellent patient care.
- Tuition-free education: complete the program without tuition fees in exchange for one year of service at HRMC.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED.
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
