Lunch and Learn - Heart to Heart: Let’s Talk Heart Healthy Living

Join us for a Lunch and Learn this American Heart Month! Guests will learn about how to make heart health a top priority, and the benefits of heart healthy living. The talk will be held Wednesday, February 21 at noon at the Haywood Health & Fitness Center. This month's speakers are cardiologist Steven Gore, MD and dietitian Lauren Teague, RD, CDE.
Dr. Steven Gore is board certified in cardiovascular disease with Western Carolina Cardiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the San Antonio Uniform Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. After his medical training, he served as the Chief of Cardiology at Eglin Air Force Base. During his active-duty time, he served two combat deployments in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) as a critical care air transport physician flying critically wounded patients out of the combat theater to a higher echelon of care. After completing his active-duty commitment, he transitioned to the United States Air Force Reserve. He served as a cardiology aerospace medicine physician with a focus on aeromedical research with the Air Force and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association.
Lauren Teague, RD, CDE is a registered dietitian and diabetes educator who has been with Haywood Regional Medical Center since 2014. Lauren grew up in Haywood County playing sports and has always had a passion for healthy living. This translates into the work she does today for the community. She attended Western Carolina University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics and her Master of Health Science degree.
